Authors¶
Sitar is developed and maintained by:
Neha Karanjkar Assistant Professor, Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Goa https://nehakaranjkar.github.io/
Madhav P. Desai Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay https://www.ee.iitb.ac.in/web/people/madhav-p-desai/
Development History¶
Sitar was first developed by the authors in 2015 (V1) and has evolved continuously into its current form through sustained development. The framework has been used in applications such as cycle-level modeling of processors, multi-core cache and memory hierarchies, discrete-time queueing networks, and system-on-chip architectures. It is currently actively used in industrial and academic projects.
Other Contributors¶
Additional contributions to Sitar's performance evaluation studies were made by the following students through an internship supported by the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) in 2024:
- Akhil Kushe - Goa College of Engineering
- Anish Natekar - IIT Goa
Generative AI (Claude Sonnet 4.6) was used for expanding and updating the original human-written tex-based user manual into the current mkdocs-based online user documentation (March 2026).
